Freephone Service

0800

What is an 0800 number? Quite simply it is a number which when dialled connects the caller to another number. The owner of the number is the one who pays for the call ... not the person dialling. Thus the call is FREE to the dialler/customer.

Freephone Numbers are available from many suppliers, eg

BT,

TelecomsWorldPlc.,

Call08.com,

0800numbers.co.uk,

PlanetNumbers

NumberStore

UtilityWareHouse

All the above have different charging structures. These are just a random sample, there are others to be found on the internet.

Typically, set up is free followed by a monthly subscription plus a per call charge. Which is best for you depends on your anticipated usage. As always mentioned on this site:

.Why?

Why do you need an 0800 number???

There could be 101 reasons why an 0800 number is useful, be here are the most common reason

  • Any company needs one for it's customers to ring for FREE
  • National image
An 0800 number gives your company a confidence-inspiring national profile, showing you’re not just interested in people in the immediate locality. This gives a message to customers that they are dealing with sound, reliable professionals.

  • An 0800 number "Hides" geographic location.
  • Phone Directory Advantage              Means potential customers will ring you before they pay to ring a competitor's expensive 0845 or 0870 number.
  • The customer wins – so do you – with 0800
“Free” is one of the most powerful and seductive words in marketing. And, in the case of “Freephone”, it is also one of the most profitable.

  • Phone calls that cost your customers nothing are an obvious attraction to them, but for your business the benefits of an 0800 Freephone number are even more appealing.

  • Boost your sales with 0800 numbers
0800 Freephone numbers can give your business a rapid increase in sales. Research shows that the number of phone inquiries you receive can quickly double, even triple, giving you more than an edge over your competitors.

  • Parents can give an 0800 to their kids, so they can ring home anytime from anywhere. This can be cheaper than providing kids with a mobile !!!!!

Set-up/Change Number

When an 0800 is set up, it is necessary to nominate a "terminating" number. This is the number to which callers will be diverted automatically when they ring the 0800 number. It is usually the company or home  geographic number. .

  • Only the named account holder can set-up or change the terminating number by calling customer services of the chosen supplier.
  • The terminating number must be a fixed U.K. telephone line, it cannot be a mobile number
  • Allow up to 5 working days for this to be completed
  • It is possible to make the ring tone different to the mainline, so that one knows that the caller has dialled the frreephone number as opposed to the mainline number.
